Kidepo Valley
Kidepo Valley National Park is located around 700 kilometers from Kampala in the rough, semi-arid lowlands between Uganda's borders with South Sudan in the north-west and about 5 kilometers from Kenya's eastern border. It supports over 77 mammal species and is home to an abundance of large game.
Untamed wilderness experiences
Kidepo is Uganda’s most remote national park, but many who undertake the lengthy trek through Karamoja’s untamed frontier would concur that it’s also the most gorgeous since Kidepo is one of Africa’s best wildernesses. A savannah environment stretches well beyond the gazetted area from Apoka, in the center of the park, in the direction of horizons framed by distant mountain ranges.
Only marshes and remaining lakes in the expansive Narus Valley close to Apoka contain permanent water in the park during the dry season. The Narus Valley is the park’s premier game watching spot because to its dense concentrations of Lion, Buffalo, Elephant, and many other comparable angulates. These seasonal oasis, along with the open, savannah environment, contribute to this.
